IXI-UMS and Microsoft Hosted Exchange
Unified Messaging in an Outsourcing-Model
IXI-UMS from serVonic is also interesting for outsourcing-models: As add-on solution, the unified messaging solution is fully integrated into Microsoft Exchange and therwith is also suitable for the operation at the provider with Microsoft Hosted Exchange.
Providers that operate IXI-UMS that way cannot only offer their customers the e-mail feature on the basis of Microsoft Exchange, but also the services Fax, Voice and SMS.
Depending on the wanted model, Microsoft Hosted Exchange then can be provided as "Hosted Mailbox", "Hosted Server" or "Hosted Service" with the unified messaging features. The IXI-UMS software here once again proves its flexibility: According to the wanted realization or the available PBX- and IT-environment, IXI-UMS is seamlessly integrated into the Microsoft Hosted Exchange structure.
The main components of IXI-UMS thereby can be operated and administered in a hosting model directly at the provider or at the provider's customer. The administration of the IXI-UMS user data and the UM-messages can either be integrated into the hosting model and outsourced or - e.g. for reasons of data protection - remain directly at the customer's site.
Example Scenarios
The following scenarios demonstrate possible variants for IXI-UMS and Microsoft Hosted Exchange. Further scenarios are possible due to the flexible IXI-UMS architecture.
Classical hosting model/Provider ASP-variant

- Provider installs and administers all the IXI-UMS components. No IXI-UMS installation necessary at the customer’s site. The customer makes use of hosted mailboxes; the provider can easily provide the IXI-UMS services Fax, SMS and Voice via SMTP/IMAP/LDAP (seamless IXI-UMS integration into the MS Hosted Exchange architecture). The provider uses own connection to the PSTN.

- IXI-UMS and Hosted Exchange: Scenario 3 - The IT-related components IXI-UMS Exchange Connector and MDS (Message Distribution Server) are installed at the provider; the PBX-related IXI-UMS components Kernel and services are installed and administered at the customer’s site. That way, the customer can administer the PBX-connection himself, the IT-part is administered at the provider.
